Call of Duty: World at War was the 5th title in the series, and Treyarch's 2nd game. This game sees the introduction of the Game Mode Nazi Zombies. This experimental game mode took a twist from the de facto survival modes, which proved very popular with the Developers and tne Community alike, which lead to the series continuing through Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
Released in 2008 on XBOX 360, PS3 and PC, World at War has been one of the more commonplace Call of Duty games. It is more common on PC in later years, with the addition of Customised, Non-Canon content.
